My allegiance is to the Scottish people<\/p>\n

to all people<\/p>\n

to be called a British subject<\/p>\n

& to swear allegiance to a King<\/p>\n

while my country has no place<\/p>\n

among nations<\/p>\n

is to be a ghost<\/p>\n

& to bear disgrace<\/p>\n

it is the dispossession of all citizens<\/p>\n

of our future Republic<\/p>\n

to see the number of the poor increase<\/p>\n

while one hundred million & more<\/p>\n

is spent to put a crown on a coof<\/p>\n

is to shame our Democracy<\/p>\n

to see her discarded in the gutter<\/p>\n

in a coat of rags<\/p>\n

her feet in rillans<\/p>\n

hame hame hame<\/p>\n

hame wid I be<\/p>\n

hame hame hame<\/p>\n

in my ain countrie<\/p>\n

wae the birk an the pine<\/p>\n

an the bonnie rowan tree<\/p>\n

ah bloomin fair<\/p>\n

in my ain countrie<\/p>\n

the Lord of Misrule<\/p>\n

in his Summer tents<\/p>\n

ponders momentarily<\/p>\n

current events<\/p>\n

stealing our destiny<\/p>\n

as he steals our rents<\/p>\n

but no more<\/p>\n

no more<\/p>\n

for the King will see<\/p>\n

our Republic rising up<\/p>\n

out of the ground<\/p>\n

seeking a new simplicity<\/p>\n

the republican wind<\/p>\n

blows through the liberty tree<\/p>\n

no King can escape the coming melee<\/p>\n

hame hame hame<\/p>\n

hame wid I be<\/p>\n

hame hame hame<\/p>\n

in my ain countrie<\/p>\n

when the new Moon<\/p>\n

will be born<\/p>\n

on the carrying stream<\/p>\n

so that we may be<\/p>\n

the Republic of the people\u2019s desire<\/p>\n

we make the song<\/p>\n

we catch the fire<\/p>\n

free of tyranny<\/p>\n

I can taste the sweet salt of Freedom<\/p>\n

on my tongue<\/p>\n

as we gather here to proclaim<\/p>\n

that which is obvious to the young<\/p>\n

let us change elegy into hymn<\/p>\n

remake it all<\/p>\n

let us not fail again<\/p>\n

in oor ain countrie<\/p>\n

& for the love of our people<\/p>\n

let us make our Scottish Republic<\/p>\n

& make it strong<\/p>\n
