The husband of Tory Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, \u00a0Rael , who had \u00a0family members killed during the Holocaust, \u00a0was incensed by the comparison. \u00a0However, Lineker was pointing to the \u00a0political direction current Tory thinking was taking compared to the 1930s before the Holocaust was launched in 1941. Today&#8217;s political trajectory \u00a0was anticipated by Neville Chamberlain&#8217;s government, which placed obstacles in the way of Jewish refugees trying to flee the Nazis. And the impact of the Tories&#8217; \u00a0&#8216;hostile environment&#8217;, now coupled to Islamophobia rather than Antisemitism, has led to the asphyxiation and drowning of hundreds of particularly \u00a0Moslem asylum seekers and refugees. This is why it is encouraging that the Weiner Holocaust Library and the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) have issued a joint statement criticising the new Bill. In January she was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/suella-braverman-refugee-asylum-charities-government-illegal-migration-bill\/\">challenged over the comments by holocaust survivor Joan Salter<\/a>, who said it reminded her of language used to \u201cdehumanise and justify the murder of my family and millions of others.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>The bill, which passed its committee stage in Parliament this week, aims to stop people claiming asylum in the UK if they arrive by unauthorised means, including by crossing the Channel in small boats.
