Ahead of Tuesday\u2019s unveiling of the racist Illegal Migration Bill, the government told the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11823799\/Rishi-Sunak-announce-tough-new-laws-designed-deter-migrants-using-irregular-routes.html\"><em>Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>This new Bill, if passed by Parliament, will mean that if you come here illegally, not only will you be swiftly removed from the UK, but you will never be able to come back.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The measures will ensure that anyone who has risked their lives in the Channel\u2019s perilous waters, and has made it to England, will be deported. However, the home secretary could also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-64848101\">send them to Rwanda, or a \u201c\u201dsafe\u201d third country\u201d,<\/a>\u00a0as soon as possible. Refugees will also be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-64848101\">unable to apply for British citizenship<\/a>. Nor will they be able to come to the country as a visitor in the future. In summary, if someone has arrived in the UK in a small boat, their asylum claim will be inadmissible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK currently have the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-64848101\">right to apply for protection<\/a>. This is under the UN\u2019s Refugee Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights. However, as the\u00a0<em>Mail<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11823799\/Rishi-Sunak-announce-tough-new-laws-designed-deter-migrants-using-irregular-routes.html\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>New laws will also restrict Channel migrants from using human rights laws to avoid removal from Britain, it is understood. The Bill is likely to severely limit the way claims under Labour\u2019s Human Rights Act can be used by asylum seekers who arrive by irregular routes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, that\u2019s right: our government is so desperate to stop brown and Black people from living in the UK that it\u2019s seeking to circumvent human rights laws.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Racist, ransacking Britain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The government official\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11823799\/Rishi-Sunak-announce-tough-new-laws-designed-deter-migrants-using-irregular-routes.html\">told the\u00a0<em>Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>It is bad enough that illegal migrants currently abuse our asylum system to frustrate their removal. But it is far worse that they can currently settle here permanently and apply to become a citizen. The ability to settle in this country and become a British citizen is not a human right, it is a privilege \u2013 which is why we will ban illegal migrants from ever coming back to the UK after we have removed them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, the government doesn\u2019t actually say\u00a0<em>how\u00a0<\/em>refugees are abusing the system to \u201cfrustrate their removal\u201d. Rather, it assumes that the public will swallow these baseless racist statements without questioning them. And it\u2019s probably a fair assumption, judging from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/trending\/2023\/03\/06\/the-far-right-have-increased-their-anti-refugee-activity-but-what-of-the-lefts-response\/\">recent uptick in far-right activity<\/a>\u00a0against refugees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deluded Tories still cling to the idea of Britain as a world-dominating empire. To them, it is the greatest of countries: a place where brown or Black people should be \u201cprivileged\u201d to be granted space. Meanwhile, just like in the time of the Empire, the government believes it\u2019s Britain\u2019s given right to continue to ransack other countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s not forget that it is this country which was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/discovery\/analysis-discovery\/2021\/09\/11\/after-20-years-of-war-were-getting-an-afghanistan-inquiry-but-its-not-the-one-we-need\/\">instrumental in wrecking Afghanistan<\/a>. It is our government \u2013 albeit under Labour\u2019s Tony Blair \u2013 that lied about Iraq\u2019s non-existent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/politics\/chilcot-report-inquiry-tony-blair-iraq-war-weapons-of-mass-destruction-evidence-verdict-a7122361.html\">weapons of mass destruction<\/a>\u00a0in order to begin an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2004\/sep\/16\/iraq.iraq\">illegal war<\/a>. And it is this country that has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-34931421\">bombed<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/uk\/analysis\/2018\/04\/14\/as-the-bombs-fall-on-syria-one-companys-share-prices-reach-a-record-high\/\">Syria<\/a>, as well as causing carnage in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110320235930\/http:\/blogs.aljazeera.net\/live\/africa\/libya-live-blog-march-19\">Libya<\/a>. Meanwhile, our arms companies \u2013 which have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caat.org.uk\/challenges\/government-support\/political-influence\/revolving-door\/\">links to government officials<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 are laughing, cashing in on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/uk\/analysis\/2018\/04\/14\/as-the-bombs-fall-on-syria-one-companys-share-prices-reach-a-record-high\/\">billions made in profits<\/a>\u00a0from never-ending war. Britain\u2019s role has been essential for destablising the Middle East and northern Africa. Yet our government washes its hands of any responsibility. Worse than this, it treats the very people whose lives it has ravaged as sub-human.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Scapegoating refugees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a time-tested method for governments to find scapegoats to blame for their own terrible messes. The government hopes that if it blames \u2018outsiders\u2019, this will distract people from the real facts. As Sunak\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11823799\/Rishi-Sunak-announce-tough-new-laws-designed-deter-migrants-using-irregular-routes.html\">harps on<\/a>\u00a0about \u201cillegal migration\u201d not being \u201cfair on British taxpayers\u201d, he hopes we won\u2019t notice that it\u2019s his government that is to blame for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/?s=inflation\">soaring inflation<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/?s=cost+of+living+crisis\">cost of living crisis<\/a>, and a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/?s=NHS\">failing NHS<\/a>. Meanwhile, energy giants such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/trending\/2023\/02\/02\/shell-oil-makes-highest-profit-in-115-years-while-pensioners-freeze-in-their-homes\/\">Shell reap billions in profits<\/a>\u00a0while we literally\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nea.org.uk\/news\/fuel-poverty-charity-reveals-45-people-per-day-die-from-cold-homes\/\">die in our homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for Sunak, he\u2019s one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecanary.co\/uk\/analysis\/2022\/04\/10\/rishi-sunaks-family-wealth-is-obscene-in-contrast-to-the-uks-endemic-poverty\/\">richest people in the whole country<\/a>. He\u2019s likely the wealthiest person ever to have graced the halls of Number 10. He features on the\u00a0<em>Sunday Times Rich List<\/em>\u00a0with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/6Nq6A\">net worth of \u00a3730 million<\/a>. The Sunaks\u2019 main home (yes, they have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/6Nq6A\">three<\/a>) in Kensington is worth \u00a37 million alone. With their obscene wealth, they look down on those who want a life without war and poverty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s likely that if Sunak found himself aboard a packed dinghy on a choppy English Channel, he wouldn\u2019t last five minutes.
