{"id":16136,"date":"2010-03-25T20:23:25","date_gmt":"2010-03-25T20:23:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/republicancommunist.org\/blog\/?p=16136"},"modified":"2021-02-19T18:49:50","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T18:49:50","slug":"rcn-extends-its-platform-points","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/republicancommunist.org\/blog\/2010\/03\/25\/rcn-extends-its-platform-points\/","title":{"rendered":"RCN extends its platform points"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eagle-eyed readers of <cite>Emancipation &amp; Liberation<\/cite> may have noticed two new additions to the <acronym title=\"Republican Communist Network\">RCN<\/acronym> platform bullet points on the last page of this issue before the covers:-<\/p>\n<p>ii) Independent working class organisation<br \/>\niv) Internationalism from below<\/p>\n<p>Many of those organisations once created by our class &#8211; e.g. the Labour Party and trade unions &#8211; have fallen under the sway of the capitalist class. New Labour is now openly committed to capitalism and imperialism. Most trade union leaders have settled for becoming a personnel management service for the bosses under \u2018social partnerships\u2019 with the employers and the state. Governments actively promote quangos, and work through <acronym title=\"Non-Governmental Organisation\">NGO<\/acronym>s, to undermine the independent organisations of the exploited and oppressed. It is now 20 years since Anti-Poll Tax Unions showed what independent class organisations could achieve. We need much more of this. This is why the <acronym title=\"Republican Communist Network\">RCN<\/acronym> has decided to add this new bullet point.<\/p>\n<p>The initial poor experiences of the <acronym title=\"Republican Communist Network\">RCN<\/acronym> (and many others) in our dealings with the British Left have been further accentuated over the years since we were founded. The British left, often without even realising it, pursue a bureaucratic \u2018internationalism\u2019 from above strategy &#8211; it appears to be hardwired into their very constitution &#8211; which just further divides the Left and our class. The <acronym title=\"Republican Communist Network\">RCN<\/acronym> has developed a democratic \u2018internationalism from below\u2019 strategy, which has succeeded in drawing together increasing numbers of socialists in Scotland, Ireland Wales and England. This principle also has much wider possibilities.
